  1. Ah, the memories! I got my photo taken with Tommy Makem at his bar in New York City about fifteen years ago. Needless to say, I was pretty well in my cups.

  2. What mean you say “in my cups”?

  3. Sadly, all but one of the Clancy Brothers are gone now, along with Tommy. I heard Tommy in concert with his sons a few times in the last 15 years, and while his repertoire tended to lean more on American folk in these last years, he was still a great performer. I am happy to say I have most of the albums the Clancy Brothers did with Tommy. So many of the great performers of the groups I am most familiar with have died now, there must be a great session going on in heaven.

  4. Drunk. At least that was the meaning of the expression I picked up from an Upstate new Yorker a few years ago. Wiki confirms: in one’s cups.
