About
Stony Creek is the lifeblood of Glenn County, California. In 1910 the waters of Stony Creek – a tributary of the Sacramento River originating in the Coast Range Mountains – opened up the region for settlement by means of a federal water reclamation project. Cheap, irrigated land attracted settlers from all over the country but predominantly from the midwestern states. Today the same waters irrigate our family pasture, which in turn sustains our small herds of dairy goats and Dexter cattle.
I’m a 43 year-old traditional Catholic, a married father of five, and a fourth-generation Californian who loves living in the north Sacramento Valley. In this space you can expect commentary on Catholicism, culture, politics, homesteading, and things merely personal. The title of this web log is meant to suggest local priorities – that is to say, a commitment to the good of my family and neighbors who live within a “stone’s throw” of Stony Creek. Hello Jeff, Nice to see you back! Darn blogging, like Nicotene! I hope you liked what I did with the old blog-city place. Well, I will make this a regular read like your old one.
Hello Ken. Blogging may be worse than Nicotine. You’re doing a great job with Hallowed Ground. Keep it up!
I just found out that you returned to the blogosphere, and it’s great to see you back! Do you have any plans to make accessible in some way the archives of Hallowed Ground? I had several particularly thoughtful pieces you had written bookmarked and would love to be able to look back on them.
Christus resurrexit!
Good to hear from you, Mike! Some of the archives can be found here:

I’ve saved most of what I thought was worth saving, so if you have a particular piece in mind let me know.
All the best!
