Deleted post about cancelled TLM in Chico

Dear friends, I deleted the last post about the cancellation of the TLM at St. John the Baptist in Chico. Against my better judgment, I was indiscreet and much too loquacious in my remarks – as usual. I apologize to those who left thoughtful comments. For informative purposes, let me just state that the nearest diocesan approved TLM is St. Stephen the First Martyr in Sacramento, a fully traditional parish served by the FSSP. There is a small chapel located in Chico that is served by the SSPX - St. Therese Chapel – with masses twice per month, on the 1st and 3rd Sundays, at 10:00am.

  2. Was this your (previous) parish church where the TLM was canceled?

  4. Lydia, this is our local parish where we worshiped for several years.

  5. I have been planning to move to chico just because of the Latin Mass there. Now it’s gone. I can’t find a phone number for the St. Therese Chapel to find out about the sspx mass. Any info or plans to try to bring a Latin Mass to the area?Maybe an independent priest?

  6. Hi Margie. The public phone number for the St. Therese chapel is 530-893-1742. If no one answers, you can send me an email with your phone number and I’ll give you a call. Presently the Mass is celebrated on the 1st and 3rd Sundays at 10:00am. The address is 1749 Spruce Avenue, on the corner of E. 8th Avenue. The FSSP has no plans to come to Chico, sadly. God bless, hope things work out for you!
