About
Stony Creek is the lifeblood of Glenn County, California. In 1910 the waters of Stony Creek – a tributary of the Sacramento River originating in the Coast Range Mountains – opened up the region for settlement by means of a federal water reclamation project. Cheap, irrigated land attracted settlers from all over the country but predominantly from the midwestern states. Today the same waters irrigate our family pasture, which in turn sustains a couple of milk goats and a small herd of Dexter cattle.
I’m a 42 year-old father of five who has returned to rural northern California after 20 years of big city living. You can expect commentary on Catholicism, culture, politics, homesteading, and things merely personal. The title of this web log is meant to suggest local priorities – that is to say, a commitment to the good of my family and neighbors who live within a “stone’s throw” of Stony Creek. I can be reached by e-mail at: jeff.culbreath@gmail.com.

Also, a helpful video for American progressives considering a move to Canada.
I have 1/16th of a mind to move to Malta. :)
Is this a joke? American progressives? (I always prefer to admit to being dense and find out the joke rather than pretending I get it.)
The video is brilliant! I am a Canuck. Please do not send these people here!!!
Scott: 1/16 and growing, I’ll bet. Malta and the Philippines are about the only two Catholic nations left in the world.
Lydia: Yes, it’s a joke. I should have put “progressive” in scare quotes. :-)
James: Can we trade, then? We’ll take you, J.D. Carriere, Mark Steyn, and David Warren. And your friends (but please leave Kathy Shaidle).
